Printed?

Our very own Quentin McKenna wrote to me:

  • I noticed that my letter got into the blog.  However, I don’t subscribe to the Daily Camera so I don’t know whether it also got printed or not.  Might you have seen it printed in the paper?

If you have a link to Quentin’s article and/or the answer to whether it was published in the printed edition, please contact me: ralphs@dos32.com and I will pass on to Quentin.

Republican Breakfast (March 4, 2015 @ 7 a.m. in Longmont)

I usually go to the Boulder County Republican’s breakfast.  They usually have terrific speakers. Sometimes I even steal one or two of them for our lunch.

Their breakfasts are the first Wednesday of each month at the ungodly hour of 7 a.m.  It costs $11 and the food is quite good.

This month’s speak will be Robert Schutzius. Robert has more than 23 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having held both technical and financial roles with Shell, ARCO, North American Exploration, and now Anadarko.

Libertarian Conundrums (March 5, 2015 12:30 p.m.)

This will be the first of probably several discussions about the perceived failures of libertarian philosophy.

At one of our previous lunches we discussed the “need” for government intervention in the marketplace when it came to innovations in pollution control.

So this lunch will be devoted to libertarianism and pollution. This will be, basically, a followup to the lunch of February 12 in which Ken presented ideas about his diesel engine pollution control device.  Both Ken and Dan made arguments for a kind of government intervention in the marketplace that left me quite unhappy.

Muni Financials (March 5, 2015 6-8 p.m.)

Our Cate reports:

  • There will be a presentation from SeethelightBoulder.org about muni financials, modeling and options, on Thurs. 3/5, 6-8pm, Boulder Library, Boulder Creek Room. Seating is limited to 70, so RSVP is needed:  seethelightboulder@gmail.com

    Monday, March 9th.

Skype conference call to organize the Campus Libertarians (March 9, 2015 @ 9:30 p.m.)

Ryan Hite (CU senior) has worked hard on helping organize the Campus Libertarians to be recognized as an official group.  Thank you so much Ryan!

Can you help be at a table at to help recruit members of the CU Libertarians? Time and date has not been set.  Please contact me if you wish to help.  Please join our Skype conference call if you are willing to help set a time.

See the section immediately below.

Our next organizational Skype call meeting takes place at the time above.  If you’d like to be involved, please email me at ralphs@dos32.com

A Table at CU (March 11, 2015, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

The CU Libertarians, Bill Gibson (LPBC treasurer), and I (LPBC Chair) have agreed to be at a table to try to further organize the CU Libertarians.

Our very own Hetty has also volunteered to help, uh, man the table.  Where do you get your energy, Hetty?!?!?!

It is important that we get young people involved in the Libertarian Party or we will only be talking to an aging population of libertarians.

Could

  • The 30-odd CU young people on this mailing list, and
  • The 180-or-so others

on this mailing list help us for as much time as you can on Wednesday, March 11?

We will be indoors at the UMC at CU near the Packard dining hall so weather and comfort should not be an issue.

Please help.  Please call me at 303-912-9356 or email me at ralphs@dos32.com if you can help.

Professor of Conservative Thought Bradley Birzer

Professor Birzer had been such a hit that he has been invited to give yet another presentation on a topic of his choice.

He has agreed to do so. Date not as yet set.  Stay tuned.

The above was in the last newsletter.  Professor Birzer sent me the following correction.

  • Birzer has HAPPILY agreed to do so!  Thanks, Ralph.  You made my evening.
